Child Safety Standards
Effective Date: May 1, 2026
1. Our Commitment
offgrid is committed to protecting children and maintaining a safe environment for all users. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy against Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) in any form on our Service.
We do not permit, tolerate, or condone content or activity that sexualizes or exploits minors, including but not limited to Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, trafficking, or the sexualization of minors for any purpose.
2. Definitions
- Child or Minor: Any person under the age of 18.
- Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): Any visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct or the sexual parts of a minor for primarily sexual purposes.
- Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE): Any activity that involves the use of a minor for sexual purposes, including grooming, sextortion, trafficking, and the creation or distribution of CSAM.
- Grooming: The process by which an adult builds a relationship with a minor for the purpose of sexual abuse, exploitation, or trafficking.
3. Zero-Tolerance Policy
offgrid enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy toward CSAE. The following are prohibited on the Service:
- Creating, uploading, sharing, or distributing CSAM or any content that sexualizes minors
- Grooming, soliciting, or attempting to solicit a minor for sexual purposes
- Sextortion involving minors
- Trafficking or attempting to traffic minors for sexual purposes
- Promoting, encouraging, or normalizing the sexualization of minors
- Using the Service to coordinate or facilitate any of the above activities
Any violation of this policy will result in the immediate removal of the content, termination of the associated account, and reporting to the appropriate authorities and organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) where required by law.
4. Detection and Reporting
We use a combination of proactive measures to detect, prevent, and respond to CSAE on our Service, including:
- Automated tools, including hash-matching against known CSAM databases
- Manual review by trained trust and safety personnel
- User reports and flags submitted through in-app reporting tools
- Partnerships with industry groups and child safety organizations
When we become aware of apparent CSAM on the Service, we will preserve and report the relevant content and user information to NCMEC's CyberTipline and to applicable law enforcement authorities, consistent with our legal obligations.
5. User Reporting
If you encounter content or behavior on offgrid that you believe involves CSAE or otherwise endangers a child, please report it immediately.
You can report concerns through:
- The in-app reporting tools available on every piece of content
- Email: [email protected]
Please do not report CSAE by sharing the suspect content with anyone other than offgrid and the appropriate authorities.
6. Account Restrictions
offgrid restricts its Service to users who are at least 13 years of age. Users under 18 must have verifiable permission from a parent or legal guardian.
We do not knowingly allow individuals who have been convicted of crimes involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of children to use the Service. Where appropriate and consistent with applicable law, we take steps to identify and remove such individuals from the platform.
7. Privacy and Data
We collect and retain only the information necessary to operate the Service, including content moderation, safety investigations, and compliance with legal obligations. Our data practices are described in our Privacy Policy.
We retain information related to CSAE incidents for as long as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, cooperate with law enforcement, and improve the safety of our Service.
8. Cooperation with Authorities
offgrid cooperates fully with law enforcement agencies and child safety organizations in the investigation and prosecution of CSAE. We will respond to valid legal requests and, where required, disclose account information and content to support investigations.
9. Training and Awareness
Personnel involved in content moderation, trust and safety, and related functions receive training on identifying CSAE, handling sensitive content, and protecting the privacy and dignity of affected individuals.
10. Policy Updates
We review and update these Child Safety Standards periodically to reflect evolving threats, legal requirements, and best practices. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or other appropriate channels.
